DCI Gene Hunt keeps the streets clean of scumbags and nonces. He kept Manchester safe and now the South needs sorting out. His politically incorrect, no nonsense attitude gets the job done. Although he often resorts to giving suspects a smack or three to get answers, Gene is a very honest and straight copper. He is adored by his team, especially his Manchester CID colleagues, Chris and Ray.
Gene's quickly adapting to the new way of policing, which includes women with a more active role within CID. The newest recruit to his team, DI Alex Drake, teaches him alot about policing and life in general, and gives him a run for his money. Although they sometimes disagree on matters, Gene admires and respects Bolly Knickers and she's the only person he lets into his life.
Gene's hobbies include drinking, smoking, watching the boxing, supporting Manchester City Football Club and listening to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. He also loves to drive the precious Quattro very fast! Gene idolises Gary Cooper and is a fan of Westerns such as High Noon and Sergio Leone's, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Like Gary Cooper, Gene is the self styled sheriff and he doesn't take kindly to anyone who waltzes into his kingdom, playing king of the jungle.

Best moment: Too many to mention, but bursting into a swingers party, with a prostitute he recently busted, and accidently wrecking the Blue Peter garden are two to note.
