Sam is the modern copper, straight and by the book. He needs evidence for every investigation and insists on using tape recorders during interviews. He disagreed with most of Gene's methods initially, but has grown to understand that some of Gene's methods work. Through Gene, Sam has learnt to trust his gut instinct instead of always relying on facts and paperwork.
Sam enjoys a pint in the Railway Arms and is courting WPC Annie Cartwright.
